Although summer is our fun time playing with food with all the bounty out there, fall is also our favorite time of the year as the harvest brings fresh hops to our area. This year we were lucky enough to hand pick hops at a friends place that lives in Penngrove, Craig Bartosch. The Brewers started their day very early picking hops for best picking conditions. We watch and wait and pick at the prime time to capture favorable hop oils. These fresh hops are tossed in the kettle at the end of the boil to extract as much flavor as possible.
Our 707 Wet Hop Pale Ale is almost done we wait patiently as the beer finishes fermenting and all the flavors come together. Come sip and savor this one time a year beer and notice the difference the hops bring to the beer. Look for it to me out early October…we can’t wait!
